Y Ask Why?

“Y Ask Why” is a typography project focused around asking the question “Why?” It visually speaks to the search for knowledge and understanding.

The project’s giant letter “Y” commands attention with an arrow pointing toward the word “ask”. The arrow is purposely off-center to show that asking “why” or other questions, does not always yield information that satisfies the question. Sometimes an answer requires a search. This also is visually demonstrated by the reoccurring arrows directing attention throughout the piece. The “S” in the word “ask” bends, and curves and grows demonstrating an increase of knowledge and understanding which results from asking why or other questions. The vine culminates with a tomato which fittingly symbolizes wisdom.
